About the

Mix It up staff

Mix It Up! is a fun, safe environment which teaches children kitchen safety and basic food preparation techniques.

  • Helps kids learn about nutrition and healthy eating.

  • Boosts their self-esteem.

  • Brings families together.

  • Kids will be more apt to eat what they make.

  • Learn life skills.  There are no "home-economics" classes any more to teach them these skills.

  • Learn to work together as a team.

  • Teaches kids about planning and making choices.

  • Reinforces math and science skills.

Why choose cooking classes?

Each class will include education on a cooking topic and a recipe will be prepared hands-on by the students.  Classes may also include food science experiments conducted to encourage the understanding of the topic.  The students may also receive basic nutrition education about the items in which they are using.  The amount of class time and cooking activities are appropriate to each age level of the students. The students will be able to take home any leftovers and a recipe with each class.

We offer a variety of afterschool cooking classes and homeschool cooking classes.  Each week includes a new dish and sometimes a seasonal or theme dish that we will be creating together.  Afterschool cooking classes are designed to be fun, hands on, and interactive.   Classes start at age 5 years old up to teenage.

*If your child has any food allergies or special needs, please let us know in advance so that we can let you know if we can accommodate.

Class prices vary according to length of time and complexity of skills for the various age groups.  Class prices also include all supplies needed in class.  Class prices are listed on our calendar.  Class seating is LIMITED.  Register early to make sure you have your spot reserved.

*Classes are designed to teach BASIC LIFE SKILLS in the kitchen!

*Students must be able to follow simple instructions and follow safety guidelines in order to ensure that they are safe in our kitchen.  Safety is extremely important to us.

Classes are listed on our online calendar where you can view a description of the planned activities, age group category, and pricing.
